The Chair
Body language translator
Wouldn't it be nice to have your date's body language translated for you? When she leans forward, you would read she is interested, when she leans back she could be bored. If she crosses and then uncrosses her legs, it would be a sexual pass. Or will it?

I made this piece as a comment about the place of technology in human interactions. I thought it's ridiculous to trust a computer in place of your own senses, and tried to prove that a computer will never reach human sensibility, and could in fact make terrible mistakes. I was surprised to discover that men actually thought it to be a very good idea, and happy to learn I find mistakes to be a magical side of technology.

I made this chair! I coded, wired, and put it all together (with the generous help of Yaniv Steiner). It's composed of chair with 4 infra red sensors, connected to a Wiring board transmitting to a flash component via usb.

A critical design exploration I did in the beginning of my thesis.
